My Heroes

I’m 48 years old, and I’ve basically been a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother.  I’m  needed to those people whose lives I touch within my family.  I have grandchildren that say they “love me to the moon and back” and a husband that adores me, so he says, and kids that say they “love me bunches”

So for me that makes me feel like someones hero!  I have family that makes me feel love and adored every single day of my life.

However, there is NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING that can ever compare to the people in my life that are so much younger than me, that are living their lives every day, in a daily dedication to our nation!

We have Misty.  A 17 year old, beautiful young woman, who graduated high school early to give her life to our nation, in the Navy.  She is a funny, musically talented, jokester and just all around friend to everyone!  I love this kid!  Only she isn’t a kid anymore!  Misty is now a woman, who at anytime can be called up to go into war for our country.  At 17, she has sister’s that love her dearly, a mom and dad, that worship the ground she walks on and she is a God fearing woman, that will give her life for you and me, should she have to.  That’s my hero.

Then their Charlie.  He’s 22.  He graduated high school with my son in 2007.  He’s in the Army now.  He’s now deployed to Afghanistan.  But he readily went to the Army knowing that he would probably have to go to the Middle East and he was willing!  Charlie is a quiet, smart, loyal friend!  He is a wonderful “extra son” to our family!  I love this kid just like a son!  He was/is a great friend to David.  Charlie is a God fearing man, that will give his life for you and me should he have to.  That’s my hero.

Then their is David.  He’s 21.  He’s my son.  He graduated high school in 2007 and he’s in the Navy.  It took him a couple of years, but he went to college and got a degree, then joined.  David, like Misty is funny, Musically talented, he’s a gifted writer, he’s smart and loyal and a fantastic brother, uncle and son.  I also, love this kid “bunches of bunches” David has grown into such a fine young man.  Sometimes I wondered!  But I am so incredibly proud of him.  I just sit in awe of the man he is.  He also is a God fearing man, that will give his life for you and me should he have to.  That is my hero.

I am blessed to know these three young people and have them in my lives.  They are heroes to me.

I thank them for their service.  I don’t think they will ever know how much I love them nor how proud I am of them.

And there are so many more out there.  Who is your hero?

Please pray for all of our soldiers and sailors!  We are so blessed as a nation to have the wonderful military that we do.

Thank a serviceman/woman today.  Sometimes, they never hear it.  So be that person that tells them thank you.

Then remember Jesus on the cross. How much more of a hero can you have?  There is no comparison at all.  I need to list my heroes though.  Jesus is by far, my one and only the most important!  I wake up needing his presence and needing to pray to him daily!!

Without Jesus I’m nothing.

You can’t add enough words, because I just can’t put it into words to describe my love for Jesus Christ.  I don’t know how.

It’s that

Indescribable, (as the lyrics go) uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God

Thank you Chris Tomlin for already providing the perfect words to describe a perfect Jesus Christ.
