Five Minute Friday Jan 17 Encouragement

Encouragement.

What is it for?

Encouragement

I don’t know a person alive who doesn’t like to receive encouragement at any given time.  It is

something as simple as a smile on the face next to you in the elevator, or as complex as that person who

is there while your heart breaks into a million little pieces and tells you, it’s going to be okay.

Encouragement is giving your child that extra ten minutes you wanted to yourself, but you look at their

face and realize, thy need you more.  Encouragement is when your spouse is feeling very down because

work just isn’t going right and you let go of your plans to stay home and make sure you do something to

bring their spirits up.

Encouragement is that faithful dog, meeting you at the door, thinking, you are never coming home

when all you did was check the mail.

See, encouragement comes in many ways, shapes, forms and colors.  It’s just a glimpse, or a wide open

view of the heart.

God encourages us to be like him in every way.

Psalm 46:1-3

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, though the

earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,  though its waters roar and foam and

the mountains quake with their surging. “Selah”
