Christmas Series – Where Treetops Glisten Review and GIVEAWAY!!!!

Where Treetops Glisten.  Three Stories of Courage and Christmas Romance During World War II

Three amazing authors collaborate on this Novella.  Three stories, written by Cara Putman, White Christmas, Sara Sundin’s I’ll Be Home For Christmas and Tricia Goyer’s Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, all focus around the Turner Family and their relationships intertwined with community of Lafayette, IN and how they each reach out to God to get through each event and the surrounding circumstances of World War II and Christmas

In Putman’s White Christmas, Abigail Turner, a college student, who has been deeply hurt during her early life by being bullied throughout her early life.  Abigail works at the Glatz Candy Factory and has a chance encounter with a very hard-working Jackson. Jackson is in serious trouble and Abigail knows her high-powered attorney father, can help.

In I’ll Be Home for Christmas, Sara Sundin, brings Abigail’s brother, Pete Turner into the story.  Pete is a fighter pilot home on furlough from the European Theater of World War II, Sundin, introduces Grace, a long time family foe of the Turner’s and the victim of bullying during her early years.  Grace is also the mother of Lenny, a very mischievous girl that Grace is raising by herself.  Grace meets Pete again through circumstances.  Pete and Grace’s history proves to be one of extreme drama, as they get to know each other again, Sundin weaves a great story of resentment, God’s grace and accountability as they learn about each other again.

The last of the three, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Tricia Goyer, follows Meredith Turner “Merry”.  Even though Meredith works as a combat nurse and is in the Netherlands, God plants Merry firmly in the face of her past.  Through hurt, broken dreams, and a broken heart, Meredith deals with the struggles of her heart’s desires, God’s plans and her own broken heart that she has closed off to anyone.

The entire Turner family is woven throughout all three stories.  Their faith in God, helps them realize that they can always depend on God and his faithfulness.  They know God’s plans are real life truths Turners also believe in Gods Mercy and Grace.

During the season of Christmas when people inherently believe in miracles, can the Turner Family go through each struggle and continue asking God’s guidance and wisdom.  Can they get through each family event, knowing that The Miracles of Christmas are their amazing truth?

Each author weaves their stories around this tightly knit family.  The attention to detail for the facts of history during World War II and a timetable that is stretched across all through stories. Also the evolving of each character makes Where Treetops Glisten a very heart inspiring story of what was going on in the United States, the world and our military and military families during World War II.  This novella also brings spiritual and emotional encouragement to the reader through each story

  1. My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11. I went through a very rough time in my marriage and in my life and a friend gave me this verse. I hung onto it then, and I still hang onto it today. My marriage survived, and I owe it to the Lord.

  2. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
