My Review

A Heart’s Promise (Book #5) picks up with Emmie, Amelia and Sarah all living at the Fort Laramie and getting along with their lives as soon to be moms.

I must say upfront, this is NOT a stand-alone book.

That being said, I loved this installment of the series.  Author, Colleen Coble, takes us on the journey of daily life at the post.

While Emmie is dealing with the struggles of her past, she gets to see glimpses of her future in some different ways.  In doing so her faith deepens and she understands how valued she really is.

It’s like the old cliché “don’t judge a book by its cover”

In the end you find that God’s healing is of course, the things that brings this small, tight-knit Post back to His mercy and Grace.

This part of the series is a clean, safe read.  It moves fast and from the beginning and keeps you interested through this small Novella.

I am going to be very sad to leave these characters with the last part of the series coming soon!

Panic Attacks – What I Wish People Knew – reblogging from a friend

The man that wrote this, suffers from panic attacks.  He gets it.  He understands.

I thought this was one of the BEST things ever, written about “What I Wish People Knew”

Here we go.  Thank you Jason for being so open and honest along your journey.

I know you get it!!!

That makes it so much easier to be able to share, knowing that someone out there, totally

understands it.

(re-blogged with permission)

Here is his post from

MEtopia

What I Wish People Understood

I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I never dreamed it would be this hard. I’m not sure it’s supposed to be. In fact, I’m not sure of anything anymore. People keep saying, “It will get better.” But, it isn’t and that makes me think I’m doing something very wrong. I’m not the teacher I thought I’d be. Not even close. I’m becoming the teacher I swore I wouldn’t be. No, it’s not getting better at all and for someone like me, that spells disaster.

There are things I wish I could make people who don’t suffer with chronic anxiety and depression about those of us who do. I wish there was something I could say or do to make them realize that we react differently to most things than those fortunate enough not to suffer. People like me, who fight this awful monster, feel things differently. We see and hear things differently. We understand and process things differently than virtually anyone else. A situation which a non-sufferer might be nothing more than an inconvenience or an annoyance might literally be a life-altering turn of events. Minor setbacks for most are major pitfalls for us.sad apple

So, if all of that is true, then what do you need to know? What do you need to do or say? How can you help? The short answer is, you can’t and please stop trying. When people like me hear people like you say things like, “It will get better,” that only makes us feel worse. You see, when things are supposed to get better and don’t (and they often don’t), it makes us feel like we’re doing something wrong. Remember what I wrote before? I know you mean well and that you’re trying to help, but please understand that you’re not.

The other thing you need to know and understand is that, to me, my reaction is perfectly logical and normal. I understand that in your mind I should be able to simply brush off difficulties and let things pass. In your mind, when people say and do things that hurt me, I should be able to simply let those things slide “like water off a duck’s back.” But, it doesn’t work that way for me. I wasn’t born with that switch in my head that allows me to turn feelings, thoughts, and emotions on and off like a lamp. My brain doesn’t work that way. I take everything — EVERYTHING — personally because, to me, everything IS personal. It’s the way I think. It’s the way my heart works. Should I change that? Maybe, but as yet, I haven’t figured out how.

It’s not getting better. It’s just not and I don’t see it getting better anytime soon. Please stop telling me it’s going to get better. I know you mean well, but you’re not helping. Please stop telling me to “be positive” or “look on the bright side” or “be grateful that [I] have a job.” Of course I’m grateful to have a job. I never said I wasn’t. But, I’m stressed beyond belief. I’m working myself sick and I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. All you’re doing when you say those things to me is making me feel like I’m doing something wrong.

We’re different. We respond to things differently. Please accept that and save your judgment.

Five Minute Friday – Messenger

Messenger

1:  one who bears a message or does an errand: as a a:  archaic :  forerunnerherald  b:  a dispatch bearer in government or military service   c :  an employee who carries messages 2:  a light line used in hauling a heavier line (as between ships) 3:  a substance (as a hormone) that mediates a biological effect

Messenger

What do you think of when you hear the word Messenger?  Do you think of the historical work, Crier (*the person who cried out the news in the town center) or a person that delivers news from person to person, place to place, or even a bag, the type of bag that is carried over your shoulder, that you can fit paperwork and contracts in, then the messenger can deliver them.

So many things!   To me, these things come to mind at first, however, when I start getting deep, I can honestly say that it goes to one of the greatest Messenger(s) every… That delivered the greatest Message of all.

All right then, the Lord himself will choose the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel — ‘God is with us  Isaiah 7:14 NLT

Gabriel and the birth of Jesus!  What would have happened, had that not been fulfilled.  where would we be?  Where W O U L D    WE BE WITHOUT JESUS?

who even wants to think about that?  I am so grateful for that very special messenger that delivered that perfect message so many years ago!!!

Isn’t it fantastic that we have the promise of Jesus to live in our hearts and then it changes our “message”

We get to be a Messenger from God about the wonderful, eternal gift of life!  Christ Jesus!

Does it get any better than that

So while you may not have delivered that very special message way back when, you get to be the messenger in your every day life to deliver the perfect message, about the perfect Birth of Jesus Christ, that came from that Messenger so many years ago.

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15

Five Minute Friday

Five Minute Friday

this is from Lisa-Jo Baker’s Blog that explains FMF)
So, here’s the skinny: every Friday for going on four years now hundreds of people have joined a kind of writing flash mob over here.
We write for five minutes flat. All on the same prompt that I post here at 1 minute past midnight EST ever Friday. And we connect on Twitter with the #FMFParty (It stands for Five Minute Friday Party).
No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation.
Unscripted. Unedited. Real.
It started because I’d been thinking about writing and how often our perfectionism gets in the way of our words. And I figured, why not take 5 minutes and see what comes out: not a perfect post, not a profound post, just five minutes of focused writing.
So now on Fridays a group of people who love to throw caution to the wind and just write without worrying if it’s just right gather to share what five minutes buys them. Just five minutes.
Your words. This shared feast. It’s easy to join in, just:
Check what the prompt is on my Lisa Jo Baker’s Blog.
Write a post in only five minutes on that topic on your blog.
{And if you don’t have a blog, no worries! Just leave your writing as a comment on my post} Link over to Lisa’s blog and invite friends to join in. Select the permalink to your post {so not your blog url http://www.lisajobaker.com but your post url

Our most important requirement for participation: There’s really only one absolute, no ifs, ands or buts about it
Five Minute Friday rule: you must visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community

The enemy Will NOT win

Today has been one of those days where it seems like the enemy is doing everything he can to keep from

sharing/showing God Not going into detail bit let’s just say

DEVIL YOU STINK!!!

You are NOT mightier than my God

You are NOT mightier than my faith and

You are NOT mightier than my marriage

6009934o

Thank you so much God for helping me stand firm and sid in your preaence. Help me continue on a path

of being a passionate follower of you

A true follower of you

I know I am redeemed and I just cry out to you for you to fill me up with your spirit

Satan’s lies are powerful, but God’s truth is even stronger.

My prayer is this: on the days when you feel unlovable and ugly and you doubt why anyone would want you… those days when you feel like a failure as a mom or a wife… the days when you can’t get your finances in order and your checkbook just won’t balance… the days when your past slinks up beside you and reminds you of people who have hated you or laughed at you… the days when your friends have stopped calling or are too busy to notice you… the days when someone does something horrible to you and takes advantage of you… or the nights when you can’t sleep because you don’t know what tomorrow brings and you’re afraid of really screwing up…

On those days? Come back to these truths. Read them out loud if you have to, no matter how silly you feel doing so. Remind yourself that your worth does NOT lie in your friends or your finances or your marriage or your past. You are worthy of being loved just because of His love for you. Above all else, you are His. Never forget.

Five Minute Friday – Nothing

Nothing

None, Nada, NIl, Zich, Nine,

Nothing

There’s nothing else to be said about nothing… It is nothing.  It isn’t anything, it is Nothing….

God has blessed me with a huge family, lots of friends and lots of acquaintances.  I am so

incredibly blessed.

So why is there this feeling of nothing roaming around in my head.

Because I let the enemy control my thoughts.  When he controls my thoughts, instead of God,

I feel worthless,

disgusting, useless, nothing..,,

But I have this amazing friend, this amazing friend, that took everything, so I have to do

nothing… except love

Him, Worship Him…spread HIS news, tell others about HIM.. that’s it….  that’s all He asks of us.,

Follow the Ten Commandments

Follow Him

This gives me so much courage to know that I am NOT nothing!!

I am everything with Him

He gives me everything because I love Him and trust Him and because I respond… to His

commands, His wants….,

Sometimes God says wait, and I must be patient, sometimes, He says move, and I move,

sometimes He carries

me and I am blessed, but most of all, He loves me….

I Corinthians 15:10 says “But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace”

Isn’t that such an amazing thing, “For whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his

special favor on me”    Beautiful, amazing words, that tells me that to God, I am loved and that I am everything

to Him
